“UNIVAC” and SmartPhone: Genius or Great Pretender?

Russia and Ukraine, wanna predict end? A Col. Wade Heavey said, “machine will have other uses. Something like the invasion of Normandy.”

Call it Machine Learning or AI, we’ve been here before.

UNIVAC and SmartPhone: Genius or Great Pretender? Appears Colonel Heavey saw it as a ‘predictor.’ I imagine his fascination is no different than those in Defense today. Colonel too appears to see it strategically:

“Such big operations are the same as mobilization – based on relationships of various groups. Get the relationships all lined up once…and the machine will give out with what can and can’t be done.”

Wile E. Coyote, the self-proclaimed genius, too needed a machine he could count on to answer his questions – UNIVAC computer. Solution to problems became crystal clear: Geniuses Wanted.

But as Bugs Bunny reminds the Genius, “To Hare is Human.”

Right, just ask Lockheed and Boeing 🙂

Fighter Jets v Drones

Pentagon, once again, call it Machine Learning or AI, we’ve been here before. And it wasn’t pretty. Recall the Boeing 737 MAX?

The reported failures of the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS) resulted in two fatal crashes.

Question is, will the updated Lockheed fighter jets’ system applications be comparable to the MAX Electroimpact automated panel and its software update which played a key factor in its recertification? More to the point. Will the ‘rebuilt’ fighter jets meet Pentagon’s specifications?

Drones have been the aerial weapon of choice for Ukraine. Perhaps US should buy what it’s selling and giving away!  Ukraine as early testing ground, a missed opportunity?

Lockheed, you may want to ‘take a page out’ of UPS playbook.  

UPS Global Operation runs 24/7. It is the “biggest automated package sorting facility in the world.” Appears they have powerful and profitable clear-cut MAXims:

→“Keep Moving” and “No Shortcuts!”

I’d say their 3,000 + pilots was the ‘ace in their pocket’ when it came to Workers’ successful strike!

‘Pilots’ of UAPs, Running Interference?

Man has built the magnifying glass, microscope, telescope and satellite. Flight into Space has been achieved. Still, even with such powerful tools and equipment, as Computer Systems and Programs, Man is unable to ‘communicate’ with what He deems as ‘higher intelligence.’

Compensating for such failures, He settles with ‘Machine Learning’ and an ‘Artificial’ version of what lies in front of his eyes.
